Technology

 

Computers are available in every classroom, and provide access to reading programs, the Studentwork Drive, and other software, with each classroom having 2 or more computers available for student use.
Walker School has two class-sized labs.  One, the "old" lab, services keyboarding instruction , and other computer activities. While called the "Old lab", it has newer machines and is internet ready. two rows of computers at right angles in Old lab.

The Free- Flow PC lab is the another class-sized lab and also is internet ready.  Here special learning activities and research can be conducted with the entire class participating on projects and activities that teachers wish students to pursue.
In addition to the large labs, Walker has a mini-instructional lab in the Read180 room.  The Reading Teacher can enhance instruction utilizing technology to provide  motivating practice for reading and writing skills. Specialized reading software assists evaluation, placement, and instruction of reading. Row of computers with students with earphones intently working.
Two pc areas in a classroom with studnets doing group and individual work. Other mini-labs are located throughout the school in the Media Center, the Gifted Ed classroom, and in some classrooms.  These provide student access to the internet, Reading Comprehension Software, encyclopedias, and other software specific to the instruction of those rooms.
