Registration Information

School Operating Hours

School starts at 8:30 every day. Students are welcome at 8:00 daily for breakfast or to spend quiet time in their classroom. Our office staff is available from 7:30 to 4:00 daily for business. For students in kindergarten through third grade, school is dismissed at 3:15 every day except Thursday. On Thursdays, school dismisses at 2:00 so that teachers can engage in professional development.
Morning pre-K sessions run from 8:30 to 11:15 am. Afternoon pre-K sessions are from 12:15-3:15 pm (except on Thursdays, when they end at 2:00).

 

Van Voorhis Elementary School serves students from pre-kindergarten through third grade. We are proud to be part of the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA)’s Kentucky District. Our worldwide goal is to educate, engage, and empower each student to succeed in a dynamic world. Our worldwide vision is to be among the world’s leaders in education, enriching the lives of military-connected students and the communities in which they live. Van Voorhis Elemetary School

Our school was built in 1958. It is named after Lieutenant General Daniel Van Voorhis, who was a former Fort Knox Commander (1931-32). We like to think that General Van Voorhis would be delighted to see so many hardworking children and adults enjoying this sturdy brick building!
