Media CenterWelcome to the Van Voorhis Library! The library has had a new makeover and is now an awesome kid-friendly place to be! I love sharing my love of books and reading with all students! Students in grades K-3 have weekly library classes to build up library skills, learn to appreciate literature and participate in book exchange. Students in grades 1st-3rd are able to choose 2 books for two weeks and kindergarten students may choose 1 book for one week. Reading comprehension strategies taught in the classroom are also reinforced with activities in the library. Van Voorhis School participates in the Scholastic Reading Counts Program. This independent reading program promotes comprehension skills of materials read.
Reading Counts! Quiz ListsBelow are quiz lists for the various reading ranges. A student at Van Voorhis can test on any of these titles, but not all of these titles are available in our school library. Students can read books from home, a bookstore, or the Barr Library on post and then test on the book at school.
