Clubs and Activities
Teachers sponsor our extra-curricular activities, in most instances. Listed are the clubs presently offered at Macdonald. For more information, contact the school office or your student's homeroom teacher.
The following clubs meet in the morning before school
- Chorus: Open to students who love to sing.
- Morning Show: Students audition to be part of the newsteam. Open to all students.
- Fitness Club: Work out with the PE teacher to learn about health and fitness. Offered to all students.
- Junior Red Cross: This is a community service group open to all students.
- Student Computer Techies: Open to students interested in technology and demonstrated leadership skills. Students are nominated by their teacher.
- TAS: Teachers Assisting Students-tutorial program. Students struggling academically will be provided with an invitaion to attend TAS to support them academically.
- JS2S: Macdonald Intermediate School has a new comittee! Junior Student to Student (JS2S) has been formed to welcome new students to our school. The members of JS2S are 6 6th grade students.
The following clubs meet after school
- Art Club: Club time will vary on the grade level. Open to all students who show an interest in art.
- Book Club: Application is submitted to sponsor for selection. Open to 5th and 6th grade students. Literacy circle.
- Stock Market Club: Application is
submitted to sponsor for selection. Open to 5th and 6th grade
students. Nation-wide online competition.
- STEM/4H Club:: An advanced engineering club designed to prepare 6th graders for middle school introduction to robotics. Writing samples and demonstration of critical thinking skills will be the determining components to students registering for this club.
- Chess Club: Open to all students
looking for a challenge. Beginners as well as experienced players
are welcome to join.
- BETA Club: Open to 5th and 6th grade
students who maintain A's and B's on their report card and demonstrate
leadership in the school. Recommendation is done by teacher and
principal.
- Drama Club: Open to all students who enjoy acting or mime.
Selection is done through auditions.
- Year Book: Application is submitted to sponsor for selection. Open to 6th Grade students. Students use provided software to lay out the schools yearbook.
- Odyssey of the Mind: Two competition teams (7 students per team) will be organized to represent Macdonal at local, state, and regional competition. Try-outs will be held for the two teams.
- eCybermission- A competition team for 6th graders who seek to solve a problem and create a better society. Teams are based on work done in class.
Other clubs and interest groups may be created as interest is generated and volunteer sponsors are found.
