Aspen Parent Portal
We are pleased to announce that the Parent Portal is now ready for use. Forms were sent home with every student and as we receive them your request will be processed. Remember, you will receive two emails with instructions on how to log in and your password. In order to obtain access to the parent portal, a NEW Form 700 must be filled out and returned to the office. We also need to have an email address for each person that is requesting access. If you have any questions, have not received your account informaion, or are having difficulty logging in, please contact the office and we will direct you to our Ed. Tech. . This will be for the school year starting 2012 up to 2015. DoDEA Content StandardsOur academic standards articulate the higher levels of learning for which our students, teachers, schools, and districts are striving. To View DoDEA Content Standards by subject or by grade, click here. Agenda BookStudents will be given an Agenda Book their first day of school. Remember to go over the Agenda Book daily and sign where designated. This is a great communication tool between home and school as well as a valuable lesson to teach organizational skills. Answering Machine:Macdonald has an answering machine, 502-624-3580. Parents can use this number if your child is going to be absent, has an appointment, on leave, etc. You can also leave a message for the classroom teacher. You may call anytime of day to leave a message. Moved into Quarters?If you have moved into quarters, please bring your lease to school so we can make a copy to complete your child's records. If it is more convenient, you may scan it to the school office. Parent/Teacher ConferencesContact the school office to schedule a conference with your child's teacher. Immunization CertificatesRevised 9 March 2012 As of July 2010, DoDEA recognized the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity of Military Children. The compact language reads that, "Compacting states shall give thirty (30) calendar days from the date of enrollment for required immunizations. For a series of immunizations, initial immunizations must be obtained within thirty (30) calendar days." Parents must present proof of immunizations upon registration in any DoDEA school. Should the immunization documentation reveal missing imunization data, the necessary immunizations must be obtained and proof of immunization compliance presented to school officials, within thiry (30) days of enrollment, for continued enrollment in DoDEA. For an immunization that requires a series of vaccinations to complete immunity, the next in the series is due NLT 10 days after the due date as determined by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) series spacing requirements. These forms are now included in the DoDEA online registration packet. A PDF fillable version of all forms is located at http://www.dodea.edu/pps/guide_home.cfm Nurse Note:Reminder...No medication or over the counter med can be administered without a prescription from your health care provider. Free Online TutoringTutor.com is a resource provided by the Department of Defense and available free of charge to U.S. active duty military service members and their dependents, U.S. military reservists on active duty in a deployed status and their dependents, U.S. National Guard personnel on active duty in a deployed status and their dependents, and DoD civilians in a deployed status and their dependents. By registering for the free, online program at http://www.tutor.com/military students and parents have round-the-clock access to professional tutors who can assist with homework, test preparation, resume writing, and more. The site is open to students of any age – from kindergartners to high school seniors – for one-on-one help in math, science, social studies and English. The Tutor.com Military Programs website - http://www.tutor.com/ military-programs – has information to help families of each branch of the Armed Forces obtain a password to log-in to the service. Britannica Online School EditionBritannica Online School Edition and Webster’s Third New International Dictionary-Unabridged Online is now available for use! Britannica Online School Edition also includes interactive lessons, research projects, and links to websites that support the Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies curricula. You will also find articles from journals, magazines and other periodicals in addition to the information presented in Encyclopedia Britannica, Compton’s by Britannica and Britannica Elementary. Students may even access the database from home. You can access Britannica and M-W Online School Edition at http://www.school.eb.com/elementary.
