Title: TEMPEST Level I
Status: Certified
Category: Switch
Manufacturer: Emanation Control (EMCON) Ltd.
Model: DeskSaver
Description: EMCON®s DeskSaver is a secure desktop switching device that eliminates equipment duplication by allowing a user to switch between two CPUs - one processing classified, the other processing unclassified information - while sharing a single monitor, keyboard and mouse. DeskSaver ensures classified information from the secure system will not inadvertently be transmitted to the CPU processing unclassified material. In the event of either a component or power failure, the signals to and from both CPUs are disconnected. An audible alarm is also activated if a critical component fails. The system consists of the following features: Interfaces Video VGA or SVGA High Density DA-15 Connectors 100 MHz bandwidth Keyboard DE-9 connector for TEMPEST keyboard with adapter for standard PC or PS/2 keyboard Mouse DE-9 connector for TEMPEST mouse with adapter for RS-232 Serial or PS/2 mouse Power 12Vdc, 0.5A external power cube, 110 volt Option: Foreign power supplies System compatibility: Suitable for use with all operating systems running on IBM compatible PCs with VGA or higher density graphics and serial or PS/2 mouse. The DeskSaver is Windows NT compatible. This device was designed and tested with EMCON®s PII and PIII series of TEMPEST computers. The configuration consists of an EMCON TEMPEST CPU operating on the classified side of the switch and any other CPU on the unclassified side. The TEMPEST CPU®s video monitor, keyboard and mouse are required to act as the shared components. Any other configuration cannot be designated a TEMPEST certified system without further testing.
