Crandle Named Pinckney Elementary School Principal

PEACHTREE CITY, GA — July 30, 2012 — Dr. Linda Curtis, Senior Civilian and Deputy Director for Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment for the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) and Department of Defense Dependents Schools, Cuba, (DoDDS-Cuba) announced announced today that Mrs. Annie H. Crandle has been named principal of Pinckney Elementary School, at Fort Jackson, SC, in the South Carolina/Fort Stewart/DoDDS-Cuba District.

Mrs. Crandle comes to DoDEA from the Fairfield County schools, in Winnsboro, SC, where she served as an Assistant Superintendent for School Improvement. She began her career in education as an English teacher in the Mobile County (Ala.) Public School System, a position she held for 12 years. She began her administrative career as an assistant principal and then was promoted to principal. She also served as executive director for elementary education and as an assistant superintendent for Pre-K through eighth grade in Mobile, Ala.

“We are excited to have Ms. Annie Crandle as part of our school district,” said Dr. Samantha Ingram, South Carolina/Fort Stewart/DoDDS-Cuba District Superintendent. “Her experiences as a principal, assistant principal, and as assistant superintendent will be instrumental in advancing our goals in student achievement and in supporting our military families.”

A native of Mobile, Ala., Mrs. Crandle earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English from Alabama State University, in Montgomery, Ala., and her Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from the University of South Alabama, Mobile. She has a son, Anthony, two daughters, Ashley and Allison, and two grandsons.
