Oregon Marine Debris Effort Nets Tons of Debris, Off-Season Work for Fishermen

After two years and 10,000 work-hours, a unique Oregon partnership is ending its run after collecting tons of debris from the ocean in the Pacific Northwest. The Oregon Fishing Industry Partnership to Restore Marine Habitat, initially funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and led by NOAA, the State of Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Oregon Dungeness Crab Commission, the fishing community, and the Oregon State Police, held a special event on August 20 to celebrate successful culmination of the project.
