Subject: Change to the Tropical Weather Outlook Text
Products Effective May 15, 2012
Effective May 15, 2012, the following change will occur in the
Tropical Weather Outlook (TWO) text products to facilitate
broadcast of the TWO on the NOAA Weather Radio network. While
there are no changes to the product issuance criteria, AWIPS
product identifiers, or WMO headers, users who parse portions
of these products may need to make changes in their software
applications. These changes also apply to the Special
TWO text products.
TWO products often contain references to additional AWIPS product
identifiers and WMO headers, in the body of the product, advising
users to look for additional information on systems mentioned in
products issued by other NWS offices or the meteorological services
of other nations.
Through 2011, any additional AWIPS product identifiers and WMO
headers referenced in the body of the TWO were provided above
the double ampersand (&&) symbols.
Effective on May 15, 2012, any AWIPS product identifiers and
WMO headers referenced in the body of the TWO will be provided
below the double ampersand (&&) symbols.
Examples of the new formats for the TWO are provided online at:
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/two_example.shtml
