Effective Tuesday, March 1, 2011, the National Centers for Environmental Prediction’s (NCEP) Hydrometeorological Prediction Center (HPC) will transition the HPC Probabilistic Freezing Temperature charts to operational status.  These charts depict the probability of minimum near surface temperatures falling to 32 degrees Fahrenheit or less at 6 hour forecast intervals out through 156 hours. These products are derived from the National Digital Forecast Database (NDFD) temperature forecasts and the 2-meter temperature grid spread from the Global Forecast System (GFS) ensemble.
