Educational opportunities at the Apalachicola Reserve are provided through a variety of methods and formats.  Outreach programs include the use of classroom curricula about the Apalachicola River and Bay System, an education library with checkout materials, a Reserve newsletter called the Oystercatcher, and off-site education programs at various venues.  On-site programming includes a guest lecture series, educational exhibits at the nature center, and field trip programs within the Reserve.  Group programs are conducted for all.

Apalachicola Reserve Education Goals:

• To develop public understanding of the estuarine, wetland, terrestrial and fresh and salt water habitats and to link these habitats as functional parts of a dynamic ecosystem.
• To develop a sense of public responsibility for environmental conditions and instill an ethic of resource protection and conservation.
• To motivate the public to alter personal activities and beliefs, play an active role in community activities, and take part in decisions affecting their natural resources by providing them with the information necessary to evaluate problems and opportunities.
