1.0 Applicability
This procedure applies to all Office of Science (SC) Site Office Managers and SC Site Office Staff who authorize work that involves Federal and contractor operations and projects subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements.
SC Site Office Staff are assigned responsibilities locally.
2.0 Required Procedure
Step 1 | The SC Site Office Manager assigns a Point of Contact (POC) who is responsible for work involving NEPA requirements. |
Step 2 | POC shall use Procedure 2, Establishing the Level of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Review and Documentation, in the Implementing the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) within the Office of Science (SC) Subject Area prior to commencing work. |
Step 3 | POC verifies compliance with NEPA requirements (See Implementing the National Environmental Policy Act [NEPA] within the Office of Science [SC] Subject Area). NOTE: For action steps that effectively accomplish the verification with the requirements of the specified DOE Order and other applicable standards (i.e. assessments, operational awareness, performance trending and issue management), see the Quality Assurance and Oversight Management System Description. |
