1.1 Applicability
This procedure applies to Office of Science (SC) Field Office personnel who review, approve, and implement Integrated Safety Management (ISM) Programs.
2.0 Required Procedure
For processes on the Field Office’s interaction with the contractor, see Procedure 7, Reviewing and Approving the Initial Contractor Integrated Safety Management Program Implementation, and Procedure 8, Conducting the Integrated Safety Management System Declaration of Contractor Performance.
Step 1 |
The Field Office Manager ensures implementation of Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) in accordance with the approved Field Office ISMS Description to ensure U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) safety requirements and expectations are achieved. |
Step 2 | The Field Office Manager annually establishes the Field Office safety goals and objectives and contractor safety performance objectives, measures, and commitments. |
Step 3 | The Field Office Manager monitors the status of the ISM system for their contractor facilities and activities and provides feedback to their contractors to support continuous improvement. |
Step 4 |
The Field Office Manager supports the SC Headquarters Deputy Director for Field Operations (SC‑3) in determining the need for and frequency of both the Field Element and the contractors ISM Declaration. |
Step 5 |
The Field Office Manager determines whether and when to conduct ISM verification of contractor ISM systems. |
