Des Moines Airports - Long wait times through Security Lines
If you are departing Des Moines on a flight between 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m., please arrive and allow 90-120 minutes before your flight departs in order to get through the security lines.
American, United and Delta Airlines have upgrade aircraft and added flights during the AM hours and the security checkpoint just had full body scanners installed. These factors have increased the average wait time to 25-30 minutes for screening.
TSA is working on a solution, but need travelers' assistance in spreading the word and showing up to the airport earlier for early AM flights.
