Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Barkley Elementary School (BES)!  

Reading and Math are the primary goals of our school improvement plan.  To meet this goal teachers emphasize the importance of reading in all curriculum areas and Math, specifically in problem solving.  Our extra curricular school programs and activities also build upon student academic growth in reading and as problem solvers.  Children have the opportunity to select books from a wide range of topics in our Information Center, as well as within the small ‘leveled’ libraries in the classroom.  Teachers promote the enjoyment of hearing good literature, and read aloud to the students throughout the day.  Students learn how to be problem solvers not only in the area of math, but throughout the DoDEA curriculum.

Our vision, Achieving, Believing, and Caring…Beyond Expectations is the focal point for all we do.  We invite you to become part of our “Caring” community by volunteering to attend and participate in special activities, volunteer in our school during the school day, or by becoming active in our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Your involvement will enhance and enrich the lives of the children we serve.
