PPS staff members partner with parents, community, students and other educators to assist in creating an educationnal environment conductive of adademic, personal, social and career growth of all students. CounselingThe counselors provide a variety of services to all our students, parents, and staff. Modeled after a Competency-Based Guidance system, the Guidance Program strives to be more proactive rather than reactive. The counselors provide classroom instruction, covering a wide range of topics related to personal well being and care. They also schedule individual and group counseling sessions for students in need of developing more appropriate social behaviors and study habits. Parents frequently meet with the counselors to discuss general topics related to social or behavior development of primary age children, or more specific topics like separation or deployment issues related to family dynamics. School PsychologistA full time qualified school psychologist is available to our school to provide psychological services. These services include specialized psychological testing, screening for educational difficulties, and/or assistance in dealing with individual concerns regarding student, parent, and/or family counseling issues. School NurseThe School Nurse provides many health related services to our school including medical screening programs such as vision, hearing, dental, and scoliosis, as well as direct classroom instruction in health education, consultation, and the monitoring and follow-up of medical related issues.
