Your Supervisor's Responsibilities
Your Supervisor’s importance in onboarding cannot be overstated. Supervisors are critical in making the new employee feel like they are a welcomed and valuable member of the organization.
 
Your Supervisor and The Five Phases
Phase 1: Before You Arrive  Phase 1: Before You Arrive
While you are busy filing out the required forms and preparing for your first day, your supervisor will be busy getting ready to receive you. If you have any concerns at all about your onboarding or your future at your new agency, now is the time to contact your Supervisor.
 
Phase 2: Your First Day  Phase 2: Your First Day
The first day that you report for work is called your "Entrance on Duty (EOD)." This is the day when will probably meet your Supervisor face-to-face for the first time. 
 
Phase 3: Your First Week  Phase 3: Your First Week
During your first week, you will be engaged in learning your new environment and gaining access to the important tools that you will be using to manage your life as a Civilian Marine. Your Supervisor will be available to handle any concerns you may have.
 
Phase 4: Your First 90 Days  Phase 4: Your First 90 Days
By this time, you should have full access to all your online accounts and you will be able to manage your personnel records and your individual benefits programs. During this time, you will be working with your Supervisor to establish goals for the rest of the year.
 
Phase 5: Your First Year  Phase 5: Your First Year
There are a variety of opportunities available to Civilian Marines. Your supervisor will provide you with help, guidance and direction as you move forward into your career at Headquarters Marine Corps.
