Sgt. 1st Class Earnest Wash serves full time in the Army and plays semipro football. Wash, a wide receiver, plays for the Empire league’s semipro Red and Black team in Watertown, N.Y.

A truck driver for the Army, Wash plays football games on Saturday nights. Several active-duty Soldiers have been able to play semi-pro ball while serving in the Army. Although Wash has been deployed while playing, he returned in time to finish his season.
