Today in History: 'Manifest Embarrassment' Edition

Did you know that America’s first president was also apparently one of the more reluctant to serve in office?

Today’s “TIH” focuses on the Library’s vast collections regarding George Washington and his “manifest embarrassment” during his first inaugural address on April 30, 1789.

    Matt – this isn’t directly related to the TIH, but I wanted to thank you for starting the blog. I just began at the LC 3 months ago, and this is a fantastic way for me to get a feel for this place, the city, the history here…. everything. Keep it up!
