Top o’ the Morning to you!

Even though I’m only one-quarter Irish, millions of folks, even those without a drop of Irish blood, are celebrating the wearing o’ the green today.

Our Prints and Photographs Division decided to mark the day by putting out a call to picture-lovers to post “now” images of locations in Ireland that match up to many “then” photochroms we posted to our Flickr site.  The result is a bit like time travel.  (Flickr also blogs about it here.)

Flickr members continue posting away, showing the beauty of the Emerald Isle both today and yesterday.

A few favorites of our curators are a rope bridge, “Giant’s causeway,” an Irish spinner, Patrick Street in County Cork, and Glenariff in County Antrim.

Want to pick your own favorites?  Our curators have posted the entire set121 of Irish photochroms, arranged by “most interesting.
