The Integrated Resource Restoration (IRR) Program facilitates and supports an integrated approach to land management that sustains, maintains, and makes landscapes more resilient.

The Integrated Resource Restoration Program was originally proposed as a simplified budget line item in the President’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2011 budget request to support the Secretary of Agriculture’s vision for the integrated watershed protection and restoration necessary to manage the National Forest System.

The Integrated Resource Restoration Program was proposed again in the FY 2012 Budget and included an additional suite of programs in response to feedback received from Congress and other stakeholders during that fiscal year’s Budget Hearings. The FY 2012 proposal was also more inclusive of Forest Service programs that achieve restoration objectives. Congress authorized an Integrated Resource Restoration Pilot incorporating Regions 1, 3, and 4 for a three-year period.
