Sustainable Travel Programs
GSA offers two travel programs that can help federal agencies meet their sustainability goals: FedRooms and the Travel Management Information Service.
FedRooms® and Long Term Lodging
FedRooms (a nongovernment website) is the official governmentwide, government sponsored lodging program providing hotel rooms for federal and military travelers while on official business.
GSA offers green properties under FedRooms, and our Long Term Lodging program offers energy-efficient appliances, earth-friendly products, and recycling services to reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and lower our environmental impact.
Travel Management Information Service (Travel MIS)
The Travel Management Information Service gives our customers an instrument to acquire travel spending data and CO2 Emission data related to federal business air travel while assisting them with meeting the requirements of Scope 3 GHG emissions reporting defined in Executive Order 13514.
Travel MIS is an easy way for agencies to manage travel dollars and procure travel at lower prices, while also helping to manage travel policy compliance. Travel MIS includes the most accurate and transparent CO2 emissions calculator available for airline travel.
Agencies may also use the Travel MIS tool to find the most environmentally and economically practical accommodations for conferences or meetings using per diem rates and City Pair fares.
