Shawn A. Bray

Shawn A. Bray began his appointment as Director of INTERPOL Washington, the United States National Central Bureau (USNCB), on October 21, 2012. As Director, Mr. Bray acts on behalf of the Attorney General as the official U.S. representative to the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) located in Lyon, France. Mr. Bray is also focused on improving partnerships between the other 189 INTERPOL member countries and their U.S. federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement counterparts.

Mr. Bray directs all operations, policies and procedures related to INTERPOL Washington's mission to facilitate police-to-police communications and provides assistance with criminal investigations. He supports the sharing and exchanging of international criminal investigative and humanitarian assistance information between INTERPOL member countries and the more than 18,000 law enforcement agencies across the United States. Mr. Bray also served as INTERPOL Washington's Deputy Director, managing all day-to-day operations from February 2010 through October 2012.

Mr. Bray started his career in 1988 as a Special Agent assigned to the U.S. Customs Service, Office of Investigations in Arizona. While serving in Arizona, Mr. Bray was also assigned as Senior Special Agent in the U.S. Customs Service Office of Internal Affairs. In 2003, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was established and the U.S. Customs Service merged with the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service to become the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Mr. Bray has held numerous positions within ICE, the largest investigative agency in DHS. Prior to joining INTERPOL Washington, he served as an HSI Operations Chief with responsibility for the Southeast Region of the United States. In addition, Mr. Bray led the ICE Cyber Crimes Center as its Unit Chief, where he oversaw all domestic and foreign cyber investigative and forensic operations within its three primary components: the Child Exploitation Program, Cyber Crimes Section, and Digital Forensics Program.

Mr. Bray attended Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice. He has 25 years of law enforcement service with the federal government and is fluent in Spanish.

Geoffrey S. Shank
Deputy Director
INTERPOL Washington

Geoffrey S. Shank commenced his appointment as Deputy Director of INTERPOL Washington, the United States National Central Bureau (USNCB) on October 21, 2012. As Deputy Director, Mr. Shank is responsible for all daily operations of INTERPOL Washington, including overseeing divisions dedicated to violent crimes, counterterrorism, fugitives, economic crimes, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and crimes against children. Mr. Shank also supports INTERPOL Washington's mission to communicate and share international criminal and humanitarian information between U.S. law enforcement, INTERPOL, and the other 189 INTERPOL member countries engaged in combatting transnational crime.

After joining the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) in 1990, Mr. Shank spent eight years as a Deputy U.S. Marshal in the District of Columbia, where he was an active member of the D.C. Warrant Squad participating on six USMS led Fugitive initiatives and was later named the Deputy-In-Charge of the D.C. Joint Fugitive Task Force. Mr. Shank was then promoted to the Marshals Training Academy as an Instructor before transferring to the USMS Headquarters in 1999 as a Senior Inspector. During this time, he was directly involved in the capture of 12 USMS 15 Most Wanted Fugitives and was subsequently promoted to the Commander of a Regional Task Force based in Chicago that now apprehends 8,000 violent felons per year. In 2008, Mr. Shank returned to the USMS Headquarters as the Deputy Assistant Director of the Investigative Operations Division, and later assumed the duties of Acting Assistant Director. Prior to his INTERPOL Washington assignment, Mr. Shank was the Deputy Assistant Director of the Office of Inspection.

Mr. Shank studied at the University of Maryland, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminology in 1988. Additionally, Mr. Shank graduated from the Senior Management Institute for Police, overseen by the John F. Kennedy School at Harvard University. He has been recognized by the Department of Justice and USMS numerous times, including the highly-regarded Attorney General's Award for Excellence in Law Enforcement for his efforts towards the reduction of violent crime.
