Thumbnail preview ANNOTATION: Due to factors such as increased litigation, court intervention, the rise in the national cost of health care, and jail population growth, health care expenditures absorb an increasing part of jail operational costs each year. In this study, a combination of site visits, interviews, and data collection was used to examine nursing, pharmacy, and health services administration within seven accredited jail medical programs (four publicly operated, three privately contracted). Following the conclusions and recommendations from the study is a chapter entitled, "Guidelines and Workbook for Reviewing Your Health Care Costs." The survey questionnaire and assorted forms are appended.
