Recreation opportunities abound in and near Fort Riley. Explore the information below for more details about programs and activities available through FMWR, Chaplain/Religious Support Office, Picerne Military Housing, and more!

The Fall Apple Day Festival is hosted by Fort Riley each September at Artillery Parade Field on Main Post. Various activities may include a petting zoo, expo tent, food provided by Family readiness groups, Commanding General's Mounted Color Guard encampment and demonstrations, military working dog demonstrations, fire and safety displays, obstacle course, photo booth, tactical equipment display, weapons firing, paintball, and Humvee and all-terrain vehicle rides. Each year the Historical and Archaeological Society of Fort Riley (HASFR), along with volunteers, takes on the age-old tradition of the apple pie making, baking, and selling. These baked pies, along with slices, can be purchased at the HASFR tent during the festival. The festival is free and open to the public. Pets are not allowed at the festival.

Yard Sales – Families in on-post housing are allowed to have yard sales in individual Family housing units. Those having yard sales don’t need solicitation permits; however, guidelines do apply. Contact your Picerne Neighborhood Office for the guidelines.
