Tour de Cure teams generally ride 150 miles as part of the event, over a 2 day period from Oak Ridge to the Cumberland Gap. Team UT-Battelle has sponsored teams since 2001, and the most recent group of 14 riders raised almost $4000 for the cause.
This is a ride, not a race, and cyclists of all abilities join the tour to ride for fun. Participants are not required to cycle the entire distance. Support and gear vehicles pick up riders when they are done and take them to the finish line. Meals, rest stops every 8 to 10 miles, and overnight accommodations are provided to the cyclists.
