Japan is very much open for business, despite recent environmental disasters, U.S. –Japan trade actually increased in 2011 over 2010. Savvy observers agree that an active engagement with the Japanese market remains critical to the success of American business.
Japan remains the world's third largest economy and the fourth largest market for U.S. goods, with a GDP of roughly $5.9 trillion.
Aerospace, computer software, cosmetics/toiletries, education and corporate training, electronic components, medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, safety and security, soil remediation/engineering services, telecommunications equipment and travel and tourism will continue to offer the most promising opportunities for U.S. companies over the next few years as infrastructure needs continue to expand with Vietnam's pursuit of rapid economic development.
