Sheldon Friedman is Chairman of the Federal Prevailing Rate Advisory Committee (FPRAC) , a statutory labor-management committee which advises the Director of OPM on policy matters pertaining to the Federal Wage System (FWS)—the pay plan that covers the Federal Government’s 230,000 hourly employees.
Mr. Friedman is an economist who has co-edited four books and written numerous articles in the fields of labor economics and industrial relations. He is a past president of the Labor and Employment Relations Association (LERA).
Prior to his appointment as FPRAC chair, Mr. Friedman had a long career as an economist and researcher at the AFL-CIO, and before that served as research director for the International Union, UAW in Detroit.
Mr. Friedman did his undergraduate and graduate training in economics at M.I.T.
