As Deputy Performance Improvement Officer, Bernie Kluger supports the PIO in the development of stategies for OPM's achievement of its agency priority goals. His areas of responsibility include driving the effective use of information technology for human sources management at OPM and across the Federal government.

The Deputy PIO brings to OPM his deep experience as a technology innovator, adviser, and entrepreneur. His work spans multiple sectors, including government, health, and higher education. Most recently, Bernie led the development of a strategic plan for enterprise IT transformation at a major civilian agency. His efforts in the private sector and higher education have improved customer service and organizational efficiency through workflow automation, business intelligence implementation, and systems modernization.

Bernie is a graduate of Williams College and Columbia University Graduate School of Business. An avid DIYer, cyclist, and Geek-Dad, he lives in the District of Columbia with his wife, daughter, a Labrador retriever, and four goldfish.
