NEW DoDEA IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENT UPDATES

SCHOOL YEAR 2012-13

MENINGOCOCCAL BOOSTER REQUIRED

DoDEA has updated the immunization requirements for the 2012-2013 school year. The DoDEA required minimum immunization for school year 2012/13 for students 16 years old and older now includes the addition of a Meningococcal booster at age 16. The first dose was required at age 11 years and the second is now required at age 16 years (or older).  If your student is already 16 years old or older, they are required to obtain the booster before the first day of school.  Please take the student to the Naval Health Clinic Immunization Department or your medical provider to receive the newly required immunization before school starts. After obtaining the booster, you will need to provide QMHS Nurse with an updated immunization record or a printout from the clinic to update your student's school health record indicating compliance.

For those students who will turn 16 years old after the start of school, an individual reminder will be sent out where upon the student/family will have 10 days to comply before being excluded from school.

Every student must meet DoDEA immunization requirements within 30 days of enrollment. Please read the Immunization Requirements for SY 2012-2013 [PDF). . Any student failing to maintain compliance with DoDEA immunization guidelines will be excluded until proof of up-to-date vaccination is submitted.  For an immunization that requires a series of vaccinations to complete immunity, the next in the series is due NLT 10 days after the due date as determined by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) series spacing requirements.
