HOW TO REPLACE AIRLINE TICKETS:

You need an identification document and a copy of the police report.  Refer the loss/theft to the airline company concerned and request re-issuance of the ticket directly from the airline company concerned.  Airline tickets are NOT always replaced.  Sometimes you need to buy a new ticket and then apply for reimbursement in the U.S., (A police report is required).

HOW TO REPLACE EURORAIL PASS:

The Eurail Pass cannot, under any circumstances, be replaced.  Losing your Eurail pass is like losing cash.  However, if you purchased insurance for the Eurail pass at the time the pass was issued, Eurail will reimburse the traveler for the unused portion of the pass.  Documentation (such as a police report of the incident) is required; please visit http://www.eurailinfo.com/info-passprotection.htm for the latest information.

HOW TO REPLACE U.S. DRIVER'S LICENSE:

You need a copy of the police report to continue driving in Italy as a tourist.  Replacement licenses can only be issued in the U.S.  Applications for re-issuance of International Driving Permits must be sent to: American Automobile Association, World Wide Travel Department, 1000 AAA Dr., Heathrow, FL 32746.  Tel: 407-444-7000.  Fax: 407-444-7380.

You need evidence of student status or a copy of the police report.  The Student Travel Center (CTS) officer must be convinced of your declared student status.  International Student Cards may be reissued in Rome by CTS:

LOST AND FOUND:

RETURN OF PERSONAL ITEMS BY MISSION ITALY CONSULAR SECTIONS

When personal items belonging to U.S. citizens are delivered to a Consular Section, the Consular Section will only accept items having an approximate value of $50.00 or more and that include identifying information. Consular Section staff will attempt to locate the rightful owner through contact information available and inform him/her of the postage cost required to return the item. When the funds are received from the owner, the Consular Section will ship the item/s to the address provided. If the required funds for appropriate postage are not received within 30 days, the item/s will be donated to a charity.

TRAIN THEFTS:

Trenitalia and Ferrovie dello Stato have an insurance policy covering limited types of thefts. On InterCity or EuroStar trains, claims can be filed if bags were stored in the baggage areas at the head of the car (not above the seats) or if the theft occurred on a night train in a sleeper car/couchette and the traveler was in the room, with the door locked at the time. Trenitalia limits the amount that can be restituted. To file a claim, traveler must present a copy of the police report of the theft and a copy of his ticket or Eurail pass to either a train station ticket counter, or by sending the documentation to the Customer Service Representative, Trenitalia, Rapporti con I Clienti, Piazza della Croce Rossa, 1, 00161 Roma.
