- Architect
NSA Architects provide designs for physical facilities to accommodate operations by performing architectural engineering calculations, developing construction specifications and preparing design and construction cost estimates.
As an NSA Architect, you will apply your skills to such tasks as:
- Designing roofs and curtain walls
- Completing interior renovations
- Proposing door hardware and finishes
- Civil Engineer
NSA Civil Engineers perform engineering calculations and prepare engineering drawings, project specifications, technical reports and design and construction cost estimates for civil and structural systems.
NSA Civil Engineers perform tasks in areas such as:
- Storm water management
- Sediment and erosion control
- Waste water and water supply systems
- Underground utilities
- Principles of transportation and traffic management/traffic signalization
- Soils and foundations
- Environmental regulations, specifically the Maryland Department of the Environment
NSA Structural Engineers apply their skills to perform tasks such as:.

- Electrical Engineer
NSA Electrical Engineers perform engineering calculations and prepare engineering drawings, project specifications, technical reports and design and construction cost estimates for electrical power and control systems.
NSA Electrical Engineers use their knowledge to perform tasks in the following areas:.
- High, medium and low voltage electrical power installations
- Substations
- Overhead and underground distribution systems
- SCADA systems
- Digital and analog power protection equipment

- Diesel combustion engine and turbine generation

- Mechanical Engineer
NSA Mechanical Engineers perform engineering analysis and design of HVAC, air distribution and piping systems, and review mechanical system submittals for projects under construction.
NSA Mechanical Engineers use their knowledge to perform tasks in the following areas:
- Chilling and heating water
- Central chiller/boiler plants
- EMCS and HVAC
- Ventilation, air distribution, plumbing, energy management and data centers
- VAV systems
- Primary/secondary pumping, testing and balancing
- Commissioning and IAQ/HVAC system troubleshooting
- Project Manager
NSA Project Managers assure that the Government receives contract results by effectively managing project budgets and schedules. Project Managers ensure quality materials, as well as coordinate related activities.
NSA Project Managers perform the following tasks:
- Scope development and management of projects
- Schedule and budget development and management
- Contract management and negotiation
- Team tasks/work package coordination
- Review coordination/facilitation
- Construction inspections
- Project acceptance and close outs
- Facilities Control Operator
NSA Facilities Control Operators are responsible for the central monitoring of the mechanical, electrical and life safety systems ensuring continuous operation of all systems.
NSA Facilities Control Operators apply their skills to such tasks as:.
- Scheduling and unscheduling outage coordination
- Monitoring systems performance
- Coordinating response to system failures
- High Voltage Technician
NSA High Voltage Technicians are responsible for monitoring and inspecting the high voltage distribution systems and its components, including everything from the utility interface to the building distribution system.
NSA High Voltage Technicians apply their skills in the following areas:
- Protective and monitoring devices inspections
- Calibration and troubleshooting
- Preventive maintenance on generator back-up systems
- Assist with scheduled electrical outages
- Metering of systems as required
