Thumbnail preview ANNOTATION: The intent of the Texas At-Risk Youth Services Project (ARYSP) is to generate recommendations for the Texas legislature regarding the improvement of services for at-risk youth. At-risk youth are those who “have the significant potential to enter or further penetrate the juvenile and/or criminal justice system. The recommendations contained in this report primarily focus on delinquency prevention and intervention. Prevention of delinquent behavior and intervention for risk factors correlated with delinquency contribute to public safety and conserve long-term state funding” (p. 2). Sections of this report include: introduction and background; legislative recommendations—highlights; project description and methodology; what we already know and where we are today; unique relationship between public education and juvenile delinquency; and legislative recommendations in detail. It is recommended that the funding for juvenile delinquency prevention and intervention be consolidated at the Texas Juvenile Justice Department, and that the general revenue funds apportioned to Communities in Schools be increased.
