ANNOTATION: The impact of the community in which an offender resides on that individual’s potential for recidivism and employment is investigated. Sections following an abstract include: executive summary; introduction; research design and data collection; results according to frequency and timing of recidivism, neighborhoods and recidivism, and neighborhoods and employment; and conclusion. It appears that “neighborhood context predicted both the recidivism and labor market outcomes of former prisoners” (p. 1). The more affluent the neighborhood, the better the chances for lower risk for recidivism and greater employment and wages.
