Delta Air Lines Clients Report Receiving Fraudulent Emails

November 15, 2011 -Delta Air Lines (Delta) has advised CWT of a fraudulent email campaign many of its customers are receiving. The email claims that the recipient has purchased a Delta ticket and that a credit card has been charged. The email also contains an invoice or receipt as an attachment.
Delta is advising that if customers think they have received an email from Delta, to carefully review the address of the sender and *DO NOT* open, click on, or reply to any email that did not come from the *@delta.com *email domain.
Additionally, the carrier recommends travelers who have received the fraudulent email take the following action:
  * Change your SkyMiles account PIN immediately and monitor your account for any misuse.
  * Delete the email from your Inbox. Opening the attachment in the fraudulent email could potentially spread a virus to your computer.
  * In North America, call *1-888-750-3284* <tel:1-888-750-3284> with any specific questions. In all other regions, clients should work with their local support areas.

At this time, the carrier has engaged its internal resources and is aggressively working to identify the cause and the impact to its customers. Delta is not the originator of the emails and at this time does not believe any personal information provided by customers was used to generate these fraudulent emails. Clients are encouraged to visit the carrier's website at www.delta.com <http://www.delta.com> for the most current information.
