Ann Wilkie with University of Florida

Ann Wilkie, a University of Florida associate professor whose research focuses on bioremediation techniques for ag and industrial wastes, shares the results of research her and a graduate student conducted at the recent Energy Solutions for the Southeast Conference in Tifton, GA. The project, funded by a SSARE Graduate Student Grant, looked at the application of biodigestion on small farms to convert organic waste into bioenergy and biofertilizers. The researchers also constructed a functional biodigester to teach the farming community how such technology works. You can learn more about the project (GS09-087) on the SARE national projects database or the University of Florida Biogas website.
