Search tips for finding conference proceedings in the library catalog

Finding conferences can be tricky because of the erratic way they are published and cited. Here are a few pointers.

1. Conference sponsors can be searched as authors, and often editors of the proceedings. If you know either of these, try an author search.

2. If you are certain as to the actual published title of the proceedings, try that as a "title begins with" (browse) search.

3. If the title has a unique or uncommon word in it such as Compcon, try that as a title word search.

4. If you know where or when the conference was held, you can use that as a title word search. For example:
"paris 1998" will find conferences held in Paris in 1998.
"ieee fuzzy 2nd" will find IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems (2nd : 1993 : San Francisco, Calif.).

If none of the above retrieve the conference, contact the Library via phone (7-5809) or e-mail.
