This is a belated “thank you” for the Delia Ray Book Talk. My students and I really enjoyed the day. We actually started off by stopping at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City to see the Black Angel since it was right on the way. At the museum we went through the “From the School House to the White House” exhibit, looked at the grave site, enjoyed our picnic lunch, toured the school house, blacksmith shop, the Hoover home and the church and still had time to see a bit of the regular Hoover exhibits before attending the book talk. The slides were wonderful, but a favorite of mine was the bagpiper playing “Amazing Grace”.

I especially enjoyed looking at presidential report cards and old photographs in the traveling exhibit. Although I’ve been to the museum several times, I had never toured the village area and thought that was interesting.

I have been to Delia Ray’s book talks before. They are always well done and I thank you for planning them!! You even had perfect weather!!

I attended the Book Talk on October 4th. I liked seeing the author of a book I actually read! I also liked seeing the bagpipe player. My TAG class and I saw the graves, blacksmith shop, and the house he was born in. In the museum my favorite part was the temporary exhibit, School House to White House. The report cards of the presidents were really cool! Overall, I had a great time at the museum.

We visited the Hoover Museum for Delia Ray’s Book Talk on October 4th. It was really fun! We enjoyed looking at the Friend’s Church, seeing the horse shoes in the blacksmith shop, the house where Hoover was born, and the schoolhouse. The best parts of the book talk were seeing pictures of Oakland Cemetery and when I got to ask a question and my sister didn’t even though she was right next to me! Thank you for having special events at the museum!

I wanted to thank you for another wonderful author visit! I don’t think I have ever heard a group of students more enthusiastic after a presentation. They really enjoyed the morning. Ms. Ray’s comments were very informative and she is so easy to listen to. I also thought the question and answer session went very well and the additional presentations fit in so nicely. And what a wonderful ending treat the delicious lunch was! We even had time to run by Oakland cemetery and see the Black Angel!

Thank you for inviting us to the Book Talk last week. I especially liked seeing the man play the bagpipes; I have never seen or heard the bagpipes before. I thought it was interesting to be able to see Mr. and Mrs. Hoover’s grave. I thought that was very fascinating! I liked the lunch because it was very delicious because I like Oreos and the sandwiches were very interesting.

Thank you for inviting us to the Book Talk last week, I especially liked the time we got to go and watch the mini videos pictures slide show. I thought it was interesting that the book had some characteristics. The man playing the bagpipes was cool; it was my second time. I wonder how long it takes to learn how to play the bagpipes.

I thought it was interesting that she knew so much about gravestones and graveyards. Thank you very much for the delicious meal. I thought the man playing the bagpipes was very interesting.
