Promoting human rights in North Korea and aiding the refugee community in the Republic of Korea. “And then there’s Dr. Lee Ae-ran who spent eight years of her childhood in a North Korean prison camp. And after a harrowing escape to South Korea, she became a tireless advocate for North Korean refugees and the first defector to run for Korea’s National Assembly. (Applause.)
