Membership

  • The general public has free access to the American Center Korea, however, membership allows patrons a wider selection of privileges.

  • Adult residents of Korea (18 years and above) can obtain membership by submitting a membership application form and presenting appropriate photo identification (e.g. driving license, passport, Korean ID card) with proof of current residence.

  • A membership card is issued to members for access to the library and to check-in and check-out books and DVDs.

  • Only members are entitled to borrow books, DVDs, and back issues of periodicals.

  • Membership is free of charge.


Membership Responsibilities

  • The Membership card is not transferable.

  • A member is responsible for all materials borrowed on his/her card.

  • Loss of membership card should be reported immediately to American Center Korea. A new card will be issued against lost or damaged card.

  • Members are requested to notify the American Center immediately of any change in contact information (address, telephone, email, etc.)

Lending Services

  • Lending:
    • Members may borrow books, DVDs, and back issues of periodicals up to three items for a period of two weeks.
  • Renewals:
    • The loan may be renewed for an additional two weeks only if the borrowed materials are not in demand.
    • Requests for renewals must be made before the due date by telephone, email, or in person by specifying the item identification number, title, due date, and the membership number.
  • Overdue Fines:
    • Any member who is late in returning borrowed materials will be blocked from borrowing any materials for two months.
  • Lost /Damaged Materials:
    • When an item that has been checked out to a member is reported lost or damaged, the member shall either provide an exact replacement of the item or shall be charged the cost of the item including shipping charge.




Photocopying & Printing Services
The American Center Korea offers a limited photocopying service for academic or research Purposes only for materials in the American Center.

  • Black-and-White Printing & Photocopying: W100 per Letter size copy
  • Color Printing & Photocopying: W1, 000 per Letter size copy (Ask staff for this service.)
