Japan Bowl
Chet King Stars and Stripes

Yokohama, Japan, January 18, 1981: Posing with trophies they earned in leading the West team to a 25-13 win over the East in the Japan Bowl college all-star football game are, left to right, running back Freeman McNeil of UCLA (top offensive player), quarterback J.C. Watts of Oklahoma (game MVP) and Kenny Easley of UCLA (top defensive player). All went on to bigger and better things: McNeil played for the New York Jets from 1981 to 1992, gaining 8,074 yards; Easley played seven seasons for the Seattle Seahawks, going to five Pro Bowls before retiring for health reasons; and Watts played six seasons in the Canadian Football League before entering politics and serving four terms in Congress.
