Park Rangers provide a number of interesting programs for schools and public meetings. For more information or scheduling please contact De Soto National Memorial call (941)792-0458 ask for a Ranger.

De Soto National Memorial would like to invite you to take advantage of our Parks in Classrooms (PIC) program. Last year we visited over 10 different Elementary schools throughout Manatee and Sarasota counties and interacted with over 2000 students.

This program brings De Soto National Memorial into the classroom tocreate an in-house field trip for grades K through 5.  Programs run approximately 45 minutes and consist of a Ranger talk on one of three topics: The De Soto Expedition, The National Park Service, or Environmental Education. Rangers use a variety of educational materials, visual aids, and historical props to actively engage and involve the students in the subject matter.

When you call to make your reservation, a Ranger will help you design a custom program that best fits your curriculum needs.  This opportunity is free of charge, but registration is required and space is limited. The program is available Wednesday through Friday. To schedule a visit, please call at least two weeks in advance. Contact De Soto National Memorial at (941) 792-0458 ext 105 and ask to speak to a Ranger to reserve a time. We look forward to seeing you in the classroom!
