Join the Maine Humanities Council for Winter Weekend, a humanities experience that brings together historians, writers, artists, public intellectuals, and others for a weekend of discussion and lectures exploring the year’s chosen book in its rich cultural and historic context. This year’s selection is Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. Speakers include: Rosemarie Bodenheimer, Professor at Boston College; Jacqueline Field, independent scholar; Declan Kiely, Robert H. Taylor Curator and Department Head of Literary and Historical Manuscripts at The Morgan Library & Museum; Lillian Nayder, Professor at Bates College; and Dianne Sadoff, Professor at Rutgers University.
This program is open to the public, but advance registration is required. The registration fee of $225 includes a copy of the book, background readings, reception, dinner, lunch, and coffee. CEU’s are available for teachers.
