Design Approval Holder

A design approval holder is the holder of a type certificate, a Parts Manufacturer Approval or a Technical Standard Order authorization or the licensee of a Type Certificate. 

Note: References to a type certificate includes supplemental type certificates unless noted otherwise.

Design Approval Holder Obligations

All design approval holders must:

• Report failures, malfunctions, and defects as required by 14 CFR 21.3.
• Make Instruction for Continued Airworthiness (including changes) available to each aircraft, aircraft engine or propeller owner and any other person required by 14 CFR Chapter I, Subchapter C --Aircraft, to comply with those instructions.
• Satisfy Additional Obligations for:
• Parts Manufacturer Approval Holder
• Technical Standard Order Authorization Holders
• Type Certificate Holders
