Multi-Piece Rim Wheels

Miners have been killed due to the improper installation or servicing of Over-The-Road type multi-piece rim wheels. On October 30, 1999, a mechanic in New York was killed when he put a three-piece rim wheel assembly together with the lock ring installed backwards.

There are details you must know about certain multipiece wheels to keep them from literally exploding apart. Various wheel and rim manufacturers have compiled these safety tips and cautions in a shop poster format and will provide it to you free of charge. Call the toll free numbers below. Make it a point to get this information and post it where you do tire repairs. IT COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE!

IF you have equipment with Over-The-Road type multi-piece rim wheels, PLEASE do these few things before you do any tire repairs:

1) Call the toll free numbers below and get the free safety posters and charts.

2) POST APPLICABLE INFORMATION and include it in your training!

3) Match your wheel components to those listed on the charts.

4) Check out the CAUTIONS for the specific rim wheel that you are working with.

5) Pay attention to these specific CAUTIONS when working with these rim wheel components.
