Thank You Indiana

Roles were reversed this week as the Indiana National Guard honored it's supporters with a public thank you. TAG Umbarger and First Lady Cheri Daniels addressed the crowd of supporters that included USO of Indiana Executive Director Doug Warnecke and two of our hard working volunteers. Mrs. Watt's Elementary Class Does it Again!

Mrs. Watts’s class at Parkside Elementary School of Columbus, Ind., collected 2,000 toiletry items and two boxes of books for the United Through Reading®’s Military Program and $600.00 for USO Indiana.

USO Indiana Executive Director Doug Warnecke accepted the check from their teacher, Sandy Watts.

Pictured below are a group of Marines, who are currently training at Camp Atterbury, as they hold a replica of the check which was presented to Warnecke.

The United Through Reading®’s Military Program is a USO program that enables troops to sit down in a private studio and video tape themselves reading a children’s book to their kids at home, just as if they are sitting right there with them. This program enables troops to still have storytime, even with they are on the other side of the world.

The Daughters of the American Revolution to the Rescue!

USO Indiana received a check from the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) on May 10 for $1,800. The donation will cover the cost of one mini-barn that will be used in the Camp Atterbury outdoor recreation area.

The DAR also provided USO Indiana with 30 Amish-built picnic tables that will be used in the outdoor recreation area as well.
