Kirtland Technology Park

Over the next 25 years, the KTP could contain development of almost four million square feet of office, classroom, and light laboratory space supporting an almost 15,000-person mix of local, national, and international students and instructors, as well as military and civilian employees.

The AFRL Space Vehicles Directorate

Leading the nation in space supremacy research and development, the Space Vehicles Directorate consists of an integrated team of 900 plus military, civilian, and on-site contractors. The AFRL unit is comprised of approximately 72 percent civilian and 28 percent military team members.

In its quest to develop cryogenic refrigeration technology for satellites that enables the performance of onboard infrared sensors to enhance missile detection, conduct intelligence gathering, and enable space situational awareness, the Space Vehicles Directorate conducts cryocooler research.

Communication/Navigation Outage Forecasting System (C/NOFS)

The Space Vehicles Directorate is developing the Communication/ Navigation Outage Forecasting System (C/NOFS) to demonstrate a technique for locating and forecasting scintillations in the low latitude ionospheric.
