Public Housing Agency (PHA) Inventory
Public Housing Agency (PHA) Inventory
Construction and Housing
PHA, Section 8, Public Housing Agency, low rent, ...
The dataset contains current data on low rent and Section 8 units in PHA's administered by HUD. The Section 8 Rental Voucher Program increases affordable housing choices for very low-income households by allowing families to choose privately owned rental housing. Through the Section 8 Rental Voucher Program, the administering housing authority issues a voucher to an income-qualified household, which then finds a unit to rent. If the unit meets the Section 8 quality standards, the PHA then pays the landlord the amount equal to the difference between 30 percent of the tenant's adjusted income (or 10 percent of the gross income or the portion of welfare assistance designated for housing) and the PHA-determined payment standard for the area. The rent must be reasonable compared with similar unassisted units.

HUD's Real Estate Assessment Center conducts physical inspections of properties that are owned, insured or subsidized by HUD, including public housing and multifamily assisted housing. About 20,000 such inspections are conducted each year to ensure that assisted families have housing that is decent, safe, sanitary and in good repair. The Physical Inspection Scores datasets provide a full historical view of the results of those inspections, providing point-in-time property scores. Results are available for download as a comma-delimited dataset. Separate datasets are available for public housing and for multifamily assisted properties. The results represent the inspections conducted from 2001 through September 2009. The datasets include property identifiers and location information.

SEMAP uses HUD's national database of tenant information and information from audits conducted annually by independent auditors. HUD will annually assign each PHA a rating on each of the 14 indicators and an overall performance rating of high, standard, or troubled. Metropolitan PHAs will also be able to earn bonus points for their achievements in encouraging assisted families to choose housing in low poverty areas.

The Federal Housing Administration's HECM program is the only government-insured reverse mortgage program. The HECM program guarantees that the lender will meet its payment obligations to the homeowner, limits the borrower's loan origination costs, and insures full repayment of the loan balance to the lender up to the maximum claim amount. The loan amount is based on borrower age, home value, and current interest rates. The HECM data files provide loan-level records that will enable interested parties to explore issues regarding downpayment assistance provided to homebuyers utilizing HECM insured mortgage financing.

Housing Problems of Low Income Households
Housing Problems of Low Income Households
Construction and Housing
housing low income problems households cost
This dataset is a county level summary of housing problems of low income households. Low income households ("LI households") are those making less than 50% of the area median income. The various housing problems are: lacking complete kitchen or plumbing facilities (substandard), having more than 1 person per room (overcrowded), and paying more than 30% of gross income towards housing costs (cost burdened). We assume that lacking complete kitchen or plumbing facilities is the most severe housing problem, followed by overcrowding, followed by cost burden. If a household has more than one of these problems they are counted with the most severe problem.

HUD Subprime and Manufactured Home Lender List
HUD Subprime and Manufactured Home Lender List
Construction and Housing
Subprime lender list, ...
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) periodically produce its HUD Subprime and Manufactured home Lender List for the lenders who specialize in either subprime or manufactured home lending, even though beginning with 2004 HMDA reporting, lenders are required to identify loans for manufactured housing and loans in which the APR on the loan exceeds a comparable Treasury APR. The HUD Subprime and Manufactured home Lender List contains the names of those lenders, their agency codes, and lender identification numbers. The agency code and lender identification numbers should be used to link to the individual HMDA loan application records (LARS). The file also contains a concatenated field, IDD, which is a combination of the agency code and lender identification number. The HUD Subprime and Manufactured home Lender List has annually been updated and revised in response to feedback from lenders, policy analysts, housing advocacy groups, and other users of the list. HUD deletes lenders and adds others based on that feedback.

housing income affordability households cost rent...
The Housing Affordability Data System (HADS) is a set of files derived from the 1985 and later national American Housing Survey (AHS) and the 2002 and later Metro AHS. This system categorizes housing units by affordability and households by income, with respect to the Adjusted Median Income, Fair Market Rent (FMR), and poverty income. It also includes housing cost burden for owner and renter households. These files have been the basis for the worst case needs tables since 2001. The data files are available for public use, since they were derived from AHS public use files and the published income limits and FMRs. These dataset give the community of housing analysts the opportunity to use a consistent set of affordability measures.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) periodically receives "custom tabulations" of Census data from the U.S. Census Bureau that are largely not available through standard Census products. These data, known as the"CHAS" data (Comprehensive Housing Affordability Strategy), demonstrate the extent of housing problems and housing needs, particularly for low income households. The CHAS data are used by local governments to plan how to spend HUD funds, and may also be used by HUD to distribute grant funds.
