3/5/2012 - JOINT BASE ANACOSTIA-BOLLING, Washington, D.C. -- Max Impact, the premier rock band of the United States Air Force, is thrilled to release a new video featuring their original song "Send Me." Produced with the assistance from Air Force Television, the video integrates footage of the amazing Airmen from Air Force Special Operations Command.

A collaboration between Senior Master Sgt. Matt Ascione and Master Sgt. Ryan Carson, "Send Me" began as a request from a leader in the Special Tactics community who saw one of the band's high-energy performances. He wanted to highlight his men's courage and selfless service, as well as inspire them to new heights.

Drawing inspiration from the "Special Tactics" motto "First there ... that others may live," this exciting original composition tells the story of highly-trained Air Force professionals and highlights their commitment and sacrifices. Along with the other members of Max Impact, the featured vocalist on the song, Carson has deployed overseas on a number of occasions and has seen firsthand the dedication of our nation's front line warrior Airmen.

"This song was written to honor, encourage and inspire our Special Tactics Airmen," Carson said. "Whether a combat controller, pararescueman, tactical air control party or a special operations weather team member -- these Airmen exemplify the warrior ethos and our core values of integrity, service before self and excellence in all we do."

Major, if you need this video for your kids to be proud of you I feel sorry for you. I can assure you that while it's appreciated, the special tactics and ops communities would carry on perfectly without all the fan art from people who are supposed to be serving beside them not playing in a cheap gov funded garage band.

I showed this video to my kids -- 8 and 10. They loved it They think the special tactics guys are heros. They think the band is awesome. They think I'm just like that. This video makes me even more proud to be in the Air Force and proud of my team. And it makes my kids proud of me. Someone tell me how to put a dollar figure on that. I guarantee my kids will be Air Force leaders some day and it may well have something to do with this video. Thanks Air Force Band! Despite the ignorant rants above, you truly make a difference.

I think anything we can do to give special operators more attention is good. More attention please.

My entertainment downrange was 1 pirated DVDs from the local market. Cheaper and better than AF bands.

This band sounds awesome and the lead vocalist has some great pipes. The tune rocks and the video's message is great, but the video itself seems a bit hokey.

Dear Taxpayer, I'm not a SOF but I work closely with them. I understand that you're worried about your hard earned money. I'm here to tell you that frequently putting your life to fight GWOT it can take a toll. When USO or these awesome AF bands shows up to perform, its frees up even just one night for our SOF to enjoy themselves, clear their minds and relax. After the show is over, it's back to fighting. Give these bands a chance to entertain us while we're away from our families.

More of the tax payers money hard at work. People getting the RIF or deploying into the suck multiple times while others get paid to be musicians. The irony of them doing this song in honor of the ST community is that some people DO and some people sing about doing it. Kudos to our modern day soft force minstrels... job done.

Are these bands really necessary in this day and age of media overload? In these days where individually we are expected to tighten our belts as individuals and organizationally are facing historical cuts to airframes, personnel and benefits, WHY is John Q. Taxpayer funding these morale stunts? I could see where this type of mission would have been important in a bygone era, but with internet bringing an endless array of entertainment options at the touch of a button, in today's age it just seems like waste.

All of these individual Air Force bands should be combined together into one band named The Nerds.

I agree with Taxpayer that we are in times of austerity, but because of these times this is when we need these types of efforts from our military bands.

REALLY? Hmmm, funny we have to cut people out of the Air Force but we can fund a rock band.

@ Taxpayer: I'm as conscience of how our government and military spend our hard-earned tax dollars as the next guy; however, this is one instance where it's money well spent. Our bands get ridiculed on a daily basis; however, they do remarkable work around the world to present the United States Air Force is the best image. They are professional dedicated Airmen serving a cause as the ambassadors of the USAF. Many serving today were first 'sparked' into the idea of serving by one of our bands or the Thunderbirds. While you may see little purpose in their existence, trust me when I say that our young people and citizens across the globe appreciate what they do.I'd also like to add that this type of work is innovative. Our bands have evolved into not just providing classical and conventional scores for our formal events but now provide original works to groups such as our Special Tactics community to assistance in recruiting and accessions.I hope this has provided a diff

Agree with taxpayer US. In this day of less dollars things such as Tops in Blue and bands need to go. Dollars are becoming scarce and should be focused on our systems infrastructure, people, active and retired benefits, and so on. While it's great for the band to honor our Wariors as they did, one still needs to wonder if entities such as bands have run the course based on today's budgetary constraints.

@Taxpayer - I think USAF PA posts all these great articles about the myriad of USAF bands just to giggle at all the comments from the pissed off people that actually have a job.

I think us Battlefield Airmen, the ones this video is about, are the only ones who think this video is cheesy and lame. But if it gets high school kids to enlist with hopes of wearing a red or black beret, then so be it.

Yeah Taxpayer, good thing a link wasn't provided so you could go check out the video, it's pretty awesome. Except in that section under Related Links where there's a link that says 'Send Me' video on YouTube.' I thought the video was well done and the song is cool definitely got my vote.

Hey Taxpayer US... How about reporting the amount of your employer's money you wasted while typing your little rant at 1210 in the afternoon? I'm just guessing while at work. The AF Bands provide a much needed morale boost to our troops both at home and abroad during this time of austerity. If this video was deemed to be in the best interest of the AF and the Special Tactics Airmen, then so be it and GET OVER IT!

Too bad a link to the video wasn't provided. I would love to watch it and evaluate whether it was worth the taxpayer's hard-earned money. If you want to run a true news story, how about reporting the amount spent on this little project. These weekly stories on Air Force bands during this time of austerity we're facing are infuriating.

Great job Air Force band Max Impact. The song and the video are top notch and it is great to see the special tactics community highlighted in the video. Keep up the good work!
