San Diego Man Pleads Guilty to Sexually Assaulting Children
The
San Diego RCFL (SDRCFL) assisted the
San Diego County District Attorney's Office, a
participating agency in the SDRCFL, with the investigation of Jared Ravin Yaffe, who paid a babysitter, Aaron Zendejas, to bring children, ages 3 to 10, to him so he could molest them and videotape the acts. On May 7, 2010, Yaffe plead guilty to sexually assaulting three children. In 2009, Zendejas received 15 years to life in prison for his crimes.
In 2009, a felony arrest warrant was issued for Yaffe who fled the country, but was later found in Brazil and extradited to San Diego where he was charged with multiple felonies, state charges of child sexual assault and kidnapping, and federal charges of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. Examiner Joel McKeehen, who is assigned to the SDRCFL from the
San Diego Sheriff's Department, examined Yaffe's computers, cell phones, and digital camera where he discovered child pornography on all devices—providing prosecutors with incontrovertible evidence of the crimes committed. Examiner McKeehen also broke the
encryption enacted by Yaffe—an extremely difficult feat—which resulted in the discovery of more incriminating images involving Yaffe.
On May 7, 2010 Yaffe pled guilty to sexually assaulting three children—the youngest victim was three years old. He will receive 45 years to life in prison during his sentence on August 5, 2010.
